Rebels Boys U-13 Premier Team Wins State Cup Championship
This past weekend our U-13 boy’s team traveled up to Lancaster National Soccer Center for the California Youth Soccer Association State Cup Semifinals and Finals. The boys were victorious in Saturdays Semifinals with a 2-0 win over a strong Cal Elite team. In this game the boys had several opportunities to score and finished the game off late by putting the second goal in the net on a great break away finish. The boys then went over to the next field and watched the other semi final game go into overtime and penalty kicks where the Aztecs won. The team played against the San Diego Aztecs in the Championship game on Sunday coming out on top 1-0. The boys scored 28 goals in the tournament and only conceded 4. The Rebels organization is very proud of this team and their accomplishment. Tryouts for this team will be on Tuesday February 26th and Thursday February 28th this week at Rohr Park from 5:30-7:00pm. For more information regarding this team, contact Coach Jaime Abarrca at 619-316-1549 or contact Rebels President at President@rebelssc.com.

Rebels welcome two new coaches to our staff for 2008-2009 season
We are proud to announce the hiring of two new coaches to our staff. Myca Burdick will coach the Girls U-10 team and Tomas Valles will be coaching the Boys U-12 Blue team this upcoming season. Both coaches offer a great combination of soccer experience as well as a professional and family background making them a great match for our club.
Myca grew up in the South Bay and played for Castle Park High School before heading to college. Myca was a two time team captain at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She has previous coaching experience with youth clubs in Alva, Oklahoma. She also possesses a Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Physical Education and minored in Business Administration. Myca and her husband reside in Chula Vista and have a newborn baby. “Myca is a perfect fit to coach a younger girl’s team in our club, she is very professional, very organized and has a great soccer background.”
Tomas Valles is joining us to coach the Boys U-12 Blue team. Tomas grew up locally and played high school soccer with fellow Rebels Coaches Amador Flores, Oscar Barba and Carlos Flores at Southwest High. Tomas played college soccer for two seasons at Southwestern College and has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Tomas trained professionally with the Atlas reserve team in Mexico for two months before redirecting his energy into his professional career.
Tomas is currently the branch manager for the San Ysidro Washington Mutual. Recently Tomas was promoted at Washington Mutual and is now part of the Washington Mutual National PR team and is a national spokesperson for the company. Tomas is married and is the proud parent of three children. “Tomas is another great fit for our club, with a great soccer background, excellent communication skills and he will be a great role model for the boys he coaches.”
