On February 3rd of this year our club formally received acceptance into the Boys Development Academy, starting with the BU12 age group for the 2017/18 Season.
“Being granted Academy status on the Boys side speaks volumes of the proactive steps we are taking as an organization to be the premier club in the entire San Diego area. Our long-term goal is to have full Academy status for both our girls and boys programs, respectively” said Academy Director Guillermo Medina.
After an in-depth application and review process, US Soccer believes that our club philosophy and commitment to the individual development of players within our club is integral to the development and growth of our sport in this country.
Rebels are now part of an exclusive group of Academy clubs that will develop individual players and help players progress through the Academy programs. As an Academy Club member, our work has the potential to develop players that will become part of our National Team programs. The Academy is a comprehensive program that provides education, resources and support to impact everyday club environments that will develop world-class players.
Medina added, “We are now only one of two clubs in the South San Diego region to offer this program to its membership. We are ecstatic to be chosen by US Soccer to bring the best players possible into this environment.”
The US Soccer Development Academy program is committed to the development of players, coaches and referees. They have high expectations for clubs to offer positive environments that are conducive to growth. We are excited to join the Development Academy and look forward to working with the federation as we continue to expand the program and pursue the development of world-class players.
